I came across this spread in an issue of Cosmopolitan magazine I had lying around in my room. This spread clearly demonstrates the use of grids in design. There are five clearly defined vertical grids and many, not as clear, horizontal grids. The use of grids on the magazine spread makes the information easier for the reader to interpret. It divides each section of information so that they are separate and can be interpreted on their on, rather than as whole. Concerning the headline at the top, the grid allows the text to be aligned differently, rather than all aligned left or right. I think that the Cosmopolitan magazine used grids very well in this particular spread.
I like the grid design for this spread as well. It's obviously easy to understand and works well for the casual reader or someone who doesn't have a lot of time to read the article. I also like how the drinks are positioned on top of the column for it. Very nice
ReplyDeleteThe grid design in this magazine spread definitely helps with the readability. The spread is easy to read and follow. The different parts are placed logically and evenly across the page. Despite the gridlike structure to the page, it still remains interesting because of the colors and graphics.

This grid design is an excellent example of a magazine who has a lot of content and who organizes it well. THe descriptions of the drinks underneath each picture clearly illustrate a grid technique that lines up perfectly with the visuals. This magazine allows for easier readability.
