Week Three | Odiamar

As soon as you reach your destination at jetBlue.com its clear that this airline has taken off from the sloppy, cluttered and boring design we often see towards a modern understanding of simplicity and funcitonality. jetBlue displays an understanding of what Lupton refers to as a hierarchy of type. The text on the websites home page is very well spaced and emphasis is placed where needed through size, color and organization. For example the viewers eyes are automatically drawn to the sites advertisement of "MORE LEGROOM" and just to further emphasize the point the large text is surrounded by a good amount of blank blue space with only a small body of text to the right. As you move past this eyecatcher the viewer is taken in by the affordable flight rates at the bottom of the page. The prices really pop out with the large, white text and the quality use of spacing serves to show the great deals jetBlue aims to advertise. jetBlue's site has found a way to make organization and practicality a priority without sacrificing content.
