Week 7-Allure of Color

I came across this poster and was really impressed with the use of colors and gestalt. The bright variation of colors at the top of the poster lead the reader's eyes to the rest of the poster. The gray scale used on the bottom of the poster contrasts well to the rainbow pattern used ate the top. The rainbow also leads down to the rest of the poster and makes it easy to follow. All in all the poster is very easy to follow the color usage is very pleasing to the eye.

  1. This poster is extremely powerful as the gray face of the woman highly contrasts with the bright colors flowing from her brain, signifying the importance of her thoughts. As Professor Taylor always asks us, if I were walking down a hall past this poster I would stop to look at it because of its appeal, and the color usage is a main reason why.

  2. This poster definitely has A LOT going on. But I still think it's very effective because of the way they used the colors.

The female is not in color. And some of the other objects aren't in color either. But the rainbow highlights everything! They really only use 4 different colors, but they are so vivid and bright that it brightens up the whole poster.

  3. If anything backs up what we learned about gray in the color quiz in class today, this image backs it up. The contrast between the woman's head and her flowing, bright thoughts are made a little more powerful because the mix of black and white strokes in the painting portion of the image makes a gray effect. In comparison to this gray effect, her colorful "thoughts" are vibrant and loud on the page.
