I think the dolphins logo uses color well. The orange is subtle while the shades of teal are used to create the dolphin and its shadow. The teal is very powerful and is brought out by the orange background. The background and foreground are unified by the orange M in the helmet creating a nice gestalt for the overall image.
I've seen this logo so any times but never thought about the color setup of it. I have always liked the logo, and have always been a fan of the orange and blue combination in general. This is more of a greenish-blue but it still works wonderfully in the logo.

I like how the helmet takes the orange color from the sun around the dolphin. It's a lot better to look at when the colors are replicated. I've always been a fan of the Dolphin's home jersey too, which samples the same colors in the logo.
ReplyDeleteI agree with both Jim and Nick. I do like the symbols of the image. The sun and dolphin are probably the two images of Miami, where the Dolphins play. I like the bright orange and teal, which are representative of those two items and of Miami as well. I like how the dolphin breaks through the sun on both sides. Great find!
